The project Emanzenexpress - gemeinsam sind wir gemeiner and the YOUTH ACADEMY are inviting you to a Feminist Summer Academy.
The starting point of the project, which functions as an exhibition and intergenerational feminist meeting place, are the feminist struggles of the 80s and 90s in Bochum. Thanks to many years of work of the three Bochum archives ausZeiten FRAUENARCHIV, LIESELLE and MADONNA e.V., today we have access to a fascinating collection of leaflets, homemade newspapers, radio broadcasts, newspaper articles and more – documents that tell us of resistance and self-organization. Our aim is to immerse ourselves in the creative, radical and inspiring strategies of pioneers and to reflect on our current practice.
In its workshops, the Feminist Summer Academy We still have to invent ourselves – but we don’t need to start from scratch would like to open up a space that revives the archives of feminist movement histories and transfers them into today.
What shall we do with these testimonies? How can we reinvent ourselves today as feminists in the face of past forms? In facing these questions, we’ll be joined by the artist SOPHIA SÜSSMILCH who is working her way through derogatory attributions such as 'Emanze' (libber), JOHANNA ZIEMES (Feminismus im Pott / Ruhr area feminism) who considers loneliness, self-care and community care in queer-feminist communities, the author and journalist JOHANNA MONTANARI who uses the concept of allies to reflect on forms of feminist solidarity, on ideas and their times, and ENIS MACI who joins MAZLUM NERGIZ in a lecture performance negotiating the invitation to exploit one’s own identities, to be authentic, to show commitment. It goes without saying that batik work will be involved.

Participation only with registration until April 30th under youthacademy_at_academycologne.org
